Green between Brown

German forests have some problems. One of them is the blue jewel beetle. There are entire areas in the forests which are looks like death regions. There is no green anymore. The attack of the blue jewel beetle but also of the bark beetle in the last years could be influenced by the global warming. In a nutshell the higher temperatures weaken especially pines. So for parasites its much easier to affect the trees. The larvae of the beetles live under the bark and eat the wood so the tree will die. As I mentioned before particularly pines are affected and pine forests are widespread in Germany. In my home area large parts of forests are dead and the trees have to removed. Many people fight against the beetles, however its getting warmer and warmer so the fight as we fight today is more a delay with less chance of winning.

For me as a photographer such dead forests are good for interesting photos. Its a nice contrast when a green tree or a bush grow up between the dead brown trees. I found some really nice motives as I walked through the forest. I also saw some roes at the edge of a meadow. I like such hikes through forests even there are dead areas there. Nature regenerate itself permanent on different ways and dead areas will replaced by fresh trees someday. I think plants will adapt oneself on new conditions as they adapt so often in history before. But we have to do all we can to slow down the process, so it's probable much more easier for the nature to deal with the changes. What do you think about the currently issues in global warming and the resulting problems?
