In mourning for the victims of the flood in the Ahr valley
2016 was the last flood in the Ahr valley and 2016 was bad. Nobody who experienced this catastrophe thought that a disaster like 2016 could get worse. Now few days after the massive wave along the valley we know that it was able to get worse. If you follow me than you know that the Ahr valley is my home and my favorite hiking areal. Now everything changes for some time. Up to now I don't know when it's possible again to hike my favorite trails, because there are no longer many bridges above the Ahr. After days of helping the authorities forbidden civilians to enter the valley to help because the roads must remain free. The idea is that heavy equipment can use the free roads to take away the massive mountains of garbage. I used these days to cycle through the vineyards with my camera. This was for me the perfect chance to make photos without disturbing anybody. When I helped in the affected area I didn't want to make photos because of decency. In the vineyards I did photos from a great distance, so I had a good overview without irreverent to approach personal destinies too closely. I hope this is ok?
I don't want to write to much, because I have no words. I wanted to write about people who used these situation for personal. People who looted affected houses and cars. People who used the flood to act against vaccination campaigns. People who act against official aid organisations like the German THW. I'm so tired about right-wing extremist actors, conspiracy theorists who used bad situations for own goals. I hate such people! I don't want to thematize such subjects at least not today.

In Trauer um die Opfer des Hochwassers im Ahrtal.
2016 war das letzte Hochwasser im Ahrtal und 2016 war schon wirklich schlimm. Niemand, der dieses Hochwasser erlebt hat, dachte, dass die Katastrophe wie 2016 noch schlimmer werden könnte. Jetzt, wenige Tage nachdem die große Welle durch das Tal rollte, wissen wir, dass es noch schlimmer kommen konnte. Wenn ihr mir folgt, dann wisst ihr, dass das Ahrtal meine Wahlheimat und mein Lieblingswandergebiet ist. Jetzt ändert sich für einige Zeit alles. Bis jetzt weiß ich nicht, wann ich wieder auf meinen Lieblingswegen wandern kann, denn es gibt kaum noch Brücken über die Ahr. Nach tagelangen Hilfsaktivitäten haben die Behörden die letzten Tage Zivilisten verboten, dass Tal zu betreten, weil die Wege frei bleiben müssen. Die Idee ist, dass schweres Gerät die freien Straßen nutzen kann, um die riesigen Müllberge abzutragen. Ich habe diese Tage genutzt, um mit meiner Kamera durch die Weinberge zu radeln. Das war für mich die perfekte Gelegenheit, Fotos zu machen, ohne jemanden zu stören. Als ich in dem betroffenen Gebiet half, wollte ich aus Anstand keine Fotos machen. In den Weinbergen fotografierte ich aus großer Entfernung, so hatte ich einen guten Überblick, ohne pietätlos zu nahe an persönliche Schicksale heranzugehen. Ich hoffe, das ist so in Ordnung?
Ich will nicht zu viel schreiben, weil mir die Worte fehlen. Ich wollte über Menschen schreiben, die diese Situation für sich persönlich nutzen. Menschen, die betroffene Häuser und Autos geplündert haben. Menschen, die die Flut nutzten, um gegen Impfkampagnen vorzugehen. Menschen, die gegen offizielle Hilfsorganisationen wie das deutsche THW vorgehen. Ich bin so müde von rechtsextremen Akteuren, von Verschwörungstheoretikern, die schlimme Situationen für eigene Ziele nutzen. Ich hasse solche Leute! Ich möchte solche Themen nicht weiter thematisieren, zumindest nicht heute.
Ich habe viele Fotos gemacht und ich möchte die Fotos für sich selbst sprechen lassen. Also habe ich ein Google-Fotoalbum erstellt. Ich werde nicht alle Fotos hier auf meinem Blog teilen. Wenn ihr Interesse habt, dann schaut doch mal in das Album.
